The Kyiv city state administration values organization of architectural highlighting of 85 historical buildings and monuments in Kyiv at Hr 55 mn. Deputy chief of Chief town-planning, architecture, city design department, chief artist of Kyiv Viktor Gleba informed reporters about it.

According to him, 12 out of 85 buildings are already illuminated, 15 are being illuminated now. As for the rest, architectural highlighting projects are already prepared for it. But Gleba supposes it can be revised, particularly, Sophia Kievskaya building. Its highlighting blinds people. As for the monument to Bogdan Khmelnitskiy, highlighting arouses shadows on it. Gleba noted architectural highlighting of historical buildings and monuments is a part of “Bright city” program. The Kyiv city state administration works out it for 2007-2012.

The second and the basic part of this program is an outdoor lighting of highways and the house territories. He did not say the cost of it regarding the estimate of cost is not made up still.

According to “Kievgorsovet” municipal enterprise, as of July, 1 2007 137 objects of architectural and decorative highlighting have been under its maintenance including 49 monuments and 88 houses. “Kievgorsovet” also serves 135,700 lights and 4,430 meters of exterior lighting networks.
