The Ministry for family, youth and sport plans to build 4 Palaces of Sport for winter kinds of sport till the end of this year, informed Minister for family, youth and sport Viktor Korzh.

“We will start a construction of 4 Palaces of Sport together with hockey federation during this month. We are planning to finish it in December this year”, said Korzh.

According to him, first of all, these Palaces of Sport for hockey will be built in Donetzk, Kharkov, Kherson and Ivano-Phrankovsk or in the district centre in Ivano-Phrankovsk oblast.

He also hopes in several months after discussion in public by government officials will adopt the state program of hockey development. He hopes authorities will work at bills concerned with development of sport beginning from 2008 – opening of new junior sports schools in hockey, opening of chair of hockey in the universities in Ukraine, opening of hockey departments in the schools for Olympic reserve.

Minister also noted authorities should take urgent measures in order to improve situation with hockey. According to Korzh, he has made this conclusion after observing the recent world hockey championship.
Minister informed general conception of hockey development in Ukraine has been already prepared. Ministry will work at common conception of development of all ice kinds of sport.
