Kyiv the Greenest City in Europe

The capital of Ukraine is considered to be the greenest city in Europe. According to data of “Kievzelenstroy” municipal union of green construction, there are 21 square meters of green plantations for one Kyiv resident. According to chief of “Kievzelenstroy” Petr Yavorovskiy, the talks about the constant decrease of green plantations in Kyiv are groundless.

He told Kyiv takes the territory of 83,558 ha. Out of this square there are 56,505 ha of parks, squares and forest parks. “Even if to compare how many green plantations are for the residents of big cities in Europe, Ukraine’s capital is a leader. For example, there are only 10 square meters for one resident of Berlin, 6,7 square meters – in New York, 12 square meters in London, 14,2 square meters in Moscow, 9 square meters in Riga”, stressed Petr Yavorovskiy.

In general there are 140 parks in Kyiv. 127 out of it are registered in “Kievzelenstroy”. 4 parks, 6 squares have been repaired during two months of work at the accomplishment of Kyiv. 200 ha of lawns are equipped with necessary facilities. 11,000 trees, 19,500 bushes and 1 mn 500,000 flowers are planted in this city. According to Yavorovskiy, the parks will be filled with 30,000 trees more till the end of the year.
